    Unhappy Newest BP rescue

Not one hour after adopting out a rescue I took in at the beginning of the year, I got another phone call from several people at once who know I will never turn down a snake in need. There was a big snake that appeared to be an escaped or released pet found under some stairs. So off I went, to a local student housing complex (of COURSE). This poor angel was found by the terrified manager. Her husband brought him to me in a pillow case. I opened the pillow case and gasped. This snake is in the worst condition I've seen--he looked almost dead at first, the poor thing.

We went to the vet the next day as soon as I woke up. My worst fears were confirmed: a systemic internal infection stemming from scale rot. Also burns on the tail, a stuck shed on top of a current shed, and he was holding his jaw funny because his mouth was filled with foamy saliva and petechiae from the infection. Bruises on the belly, the list goes on...

We have a long road of recovery ahead, but for now he is on Fortaz injections every 3 days and daily soaks with Sulfa applications after, plus hygrotherapy in his tank. Everyone please send him good snake vibes, prayers, and loving light. He needs all he can get right now!

And I put an ad on Craigslist for a found snake that has yet to be returned, just like the last 2 ads I placed for found ball pythons. People make me crazy.

Also, DON'T RELEASE YOUR PETS INTO THE WILD!!!!

Smelly scale rot on the bottom

Very true, but every time I post that I found them on craigslist, and every time the post goes unreturned. Unfortunately it's all too common in student housing complexes. Kids graduate, they release their pets. I've been ccalled about ets being literally left behind after the person vacates, and they want nothing to do with the animal anymore. Especially BPs-the number of people who assume they are wild and therefore can be released is astoundingly high. So frustrating...

But, fingers crossed nonetheless. Maybe he did escape. I hope the owner contacts me and maybe reimburses me the vet bills and supplies... But if not, no biggie. I will work something out. He's not microchipped so craigslist will have to do for now, unless you have any suggestions??

Also very true... Any other ideas? I don't want to post fliers because honestly I think it's a waste of time. If I lose a snake the first thing I'm doing is posting stuff everywhere people will look. But maybe that's just me. :/
