    Incubating at 89.2-89.6

I've been incubating my very first clutch of eggs at 89.2-89.6. I'm on day 44 and I'm very impatient. I am not going to cut my clutch simply because I have never had a clutch before and I'm affraid something may go wrong. My temps have been steady throughout incubation. I candled the eggs this weekend and all babies seemed very alive, my only concern is eggs don't look full like I thought they would . One of the eggs has started to dimple but the others are still very plump. Can anyone give me a idea of how full the eggs should look or when I can expect my first pipe incubating at 89?

So this is a fun time of year. Pictures might help with showing your concerns. It sounds like your eggs should be fine . I've had some eggs stay really plump and some that were really shriveled up. Set ups were exactly the same. Same tubs, vermiculite to water ratio, light diffuser etc etc. Each hatched fine and the babies were fine. I have seen eggs that collapsed in my buddy's incubator that were really shriveled and felt really dry. His lids didn't seal well and the eggs really dried out. if this seems to be the case, you can add a little water to tub to help boost the humidity.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Once you have incubated several clutches at the same exact temp it will give you an idea on when your snakes will pip out, if you ask different people there will likely be a difference of a few days even if they incubate at the same temp.

Egg shape is variable as well I have had eggs completely dimpled when the first animal pips out and some that are still nice and plump when they did.

I incubate at 88.5 degrees and my hatchlings usually pip at day 60/61 and emerge out of their eggs 2 days later.
