    Updated Enclosure

After taking some of the advice in my last post, i got some new additions to add to the enclosure.

    Updated tank

I'm still having issues with the humidity. I've been having to spray some water in the tank every few hours to keep the humidity above 30%. I plan on getting a heating pad and a closed top instead of the grate soon but is there anything else i should be doing? He also ate his first meal without hesitation on Wednesday.

Glass enclosures are hard to hold humidity. With that said first off you want a heat pad for sure on this tank. I currently have a glass enclosure, about to go different route, and I use a UTH and also a heat lamp. My top metal screen type lid I wrapped in tinfoil and then used hvac tape to tape it down. I put about a 1/2" opening around the light opening so air can vent out. This has helped a lot with humidity but still not as good as a AP cage.

Personally I would look into a AP cage, if you can not afford yet then just start saving, you'll be happier in long run. This is what I'm switching too this week.

If you want glass there is a thread on here showing how someone modified a glass tank to work better but you'll always fight with humidity.

Working on getting the money for a heating pad at the moment. But in the mean time, i have a heat insulating sheet around the lamp on top with room for ventilation and have increased misting water since he has now gone into shed.

I've found no matter what with glass tanks that have mesh lids, you're going to have a tough time with humidity. It stinks because I love the way they look! It's just such a pill to keep the humidity right. I switched to large tupperware containers with drilled holes (sanded/smoothed down). The WeatherSeal and locking sides keep the snakes from escaping, and I NEVER have problems with humidity--on the contrary, I actually had too-high levels of humidity with a few holes drilled, and needed to make a lot more. But now it works great, and temps and humidity are ideal. It's just not as pretty as glass.

Decent looking set up. Are those dial style humidity gauges? If so they are probably off. Dial style anything are notorious for being inaccurate. Get some thing like http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acu-Rite-I...r-00891/896347. They are decent and cheap. Also cover the top with a piece of thick cardboard covered in tin foil. Then cut out a hole about 1/2" bigger than your dome. That will serve for air. I do that for my glass tanks and they hold 60-80% humidity with aspen. Also move the water dish close to the dome so the heat helps evaporate water. I don't use wood hides as they are pretty well impossible to clean. I use Reptile Basic hides which are ABS plastic and have flat tops which are perfect to put folded wet paper towels on top of if you need more humidity during a shed.

Also don't forget a T-stat for the UTH when you use it. A UTH must never be run without some form of control.
