    for a hide box on DIY projects i was wondering can i just use a old plastic clear shoe box or will it not be good becase it is clear and the snake won't feel safe thanks for your time ~dan~

    is this ok to use

    ummm. If you could find a dark colored one it would be better bcause it would make the snake feel more inclosed. You can also use a cardboard box......ceral box. Something of that nature.

    he may not feel as comfy in it since it is see through. generally something you can't see through would be better.

    27g~dry-(made 9/4/04)crested gecko (getting on 9/15/04)
    10g~1/2dry1/2wet- albino pac man frog

    this is how they look like they are clear and on the other end i have a passage way so my snake can get in
    90g~water- 4 red belly piranhas
    20g~dry- leopard gecko
    27g~dry-(made 9/4/04)crested gecko (getting on 9/15/04)
    10g~1/2dry1/2wet- albino pac man frog
    10g~wet- african ciclids
    5g~1/2dry 1/2 wet- 2 fire belly toads
    5g~wet~ male beta fish

    If they can see big looming shapes moving around outside through the side of the hide they are not going to feel very secure - go for something more opaque.

    i was using a clear zip-lock container like that, but i covered it with substrate, and left the hole for the entrance exposed. he would feel secure and like he was underground. put some plants or something on it around it.. use the enviroment inside the cage to make a hill there and have the hide be under the hill...

    i was thinking to put like white paper ot newspaper over it is that fine
