I never saw the doors open, and the latch felt the same as always when I went in there first thing in the morning to mist the plants. Just figured he was in a hide.
...all day??
Not like him.
Tore the enclosure apart, 'cause it is not as if he can get out thru closed doors, and the screen top was absolutely secure, with the slide cover over the cord holes (even if he were that small). However, this guy is three feet long, and 232 grams - not so easy to hide in there.
So, after a few minutes of disbelief and panic, I finally see the tip of a pink/purple tail just beneath his enclosure...he has been out day (at least), and he only gets to the floor, stretched out behind a heavy box. Dude, what was the point??
He is now wrapped around my waist to warm up. FREEZING.
I'm really frustrated, however. I've always been extremely careful, even paranoid with that latch (I'm the only one home this week). Aside from that, after presumably pushing a door open, it closed shut behind him? The door actually requires a bit of push to fully shut it. The latch has two small holes for a lock. I found a cotter pin that fits. Yet, I don't even trust that now, because I trusted this latch completely before. The enclosure is a very nice Exo-Terra.
Sigh.
You guys with racks have it easy.
