Hi all,
So yesterday we Skyped my step brother in France, and he has a pet ball python and frillie. And his BP recently turned twenty-one year old! Hearing that made me really happy, because it's not until you hear how long they can live that you realise how many happy years you'll have with your slithery companion!
Cheers,
Herpo

I love hearing this. you know they've been well cared for. Old guys! I've got 2.0 23 yr old. I was so happy when they turned 21, now I can send them to the store for beer.

My corn snake who died this year was 18. I like to joke about how they wouldn't let him register to vote.

Sorry for your loss Coluber.
She's a great snake, normal BP. Eats only live though, and while she handles well, she's not so friendly with other snakes. Once he tried to breed her and she killed the male. And when he first got her he housed her with a corn (didn't know you weren't really supposed to do that). Corn got eaten...

Many years ago, my first job in high school was at the pet store where I got my first pet snakes. I remember one day where two or three different snakes were housed together and another kid who worked there just tossed in a couple of mice without separating the snakes out first. Then, of course, it was my job to separate them AFTER two of them were both wrapped around the same mouse!
Fortunately, they were very different snakes - one was a large-ish corn and the other was a baby boa. If they'd been the same color I'd never have been able to tell which was which while they were both struggling to keep ahold of whatever they'd grabbed. In the end, one got most of the mouse and the other got the tail. It was messy.
(And yes, there's just all kinds of wrong with everything in that previous paragraph... the store went out of business by the time I was out of high school.)
