Re: Live plants are my friend
I don't see any actual hides in your enclosure? I think it would be a good idea to add a cave on each side...even a half log...planter bottoms with a hole to enter...it can be as elaborate as you'd like or super simple but they do like to be snug in a dark place.

I do like you're plant idea though!

Re: Live plants are my friend
Looks like a lovely setup .. Is add a few hides as suggested and some branches even large pieces of bark . Just to get rid of the open space and provide interest , security etc .
Just a personal thing .. a bowl never looks right when it's totally central , but like a photo layout .. try it a bit to one side and see what you think

There's a hide on each side. They're each half an ice cream container cut in half burried in the substrate. Here's a close-up

Sneaky hides! Looks like a happy place for snek to live.

How long have you had the tank set up this way? Because the pics are dark, I can't tell; is there a gravel drainage layer? Water collecting at the bottom in a tank with just peat/eco-earth/etc. can eventually make a mucky, stinky mess that seeps up from the glass floor. You may not see it on the surface, but the soggy condition may make the half-sunken hides unusable for your snake (and too chilly, anyway - it doesn't appear from the pic that much heat from that central lamp is adequately heating either of the hides for good digestion).
I'm not there, I can't determine.
Not criticizing, rather pointing out some possible pitfalls based on the pics.

Re: Live plants are my friend
The lamp is purely for light for the plants. There is a ceramic heat emitter on the left side but also an uth under the left side and one on the side. I mix up the dirt every so often to distribute the moisture properly, avoid molding, and lift up the hides to check for mold and waste. She pats down the soil again almost immediately

Re: Live plants are my friend
Seems like a pretty good place to be now that I know about the buried hides - that's brilliant! I love how you are combining your passion for plants into the terrarium. I am just starting to grow my own garden plus growing a few indoor plants but wouldn't have the confidence to pull off what you are. Good job
