Needed advice on heating and enclosure!
I have just completed a new enclosure form BP that is 48 x 48 x 48 giving it just shy of 480 gallon. We made it out of oak plywood for durability, slate rock for the bottom. We also did a homemade waterfall about 20 gallons that filters the water for minimal up keep. We added bamboo poles, shelves, greenery etc. We are finally waiting for the tempered glass. I ordered a few heat emitters for the constant warmth. My question is how many 150w emitters will I need to heat this enclosure. I have been told many options some say four and placing 2 in the back and 2 in the front. I have also heard 6 emitters; we just want to be sure before we add her. Any suggestions?

Started your own thread instead of high jacking someone elses.
How are you planning on dividing up that enclosure? That is way to much space needed for care of a single ball python.
No matter how many CHEs you put on top of that enclosure they will never heat the floor being 4 feet off of it.
How are you going to keep the humidity up in that large of an area?

I agree with Pit... you could cover the top in CHE's and the top 18" of the cage will be nice and hot, but the floor will be room temp. They put out the heat, but I don't think they're going to penetrate 4' in depth. You "MIGHT" be able to get by with 24" depth, but that still sems like a lot to me. If it was 4'x4'x2', I'd start with 4 of those CHE's pluss some bellyheat under one of your slate tiles (on a thermostat, of course). You may find you'll need more, but that would get you started. An even better solution would be to build some braces or supports and put a plexiglass or pvc sheeted lid on that cage, and then mount two 80w RHP's on it. That would help with your ambient temps as well as help you keep some humidity in there.
