    Calling All College Students

I didn't know if we already had one, and honestly didn't look (sort of lazy, I know), but I wanted to start a thread for college students, like myself, to just talk about school. I'm not even a full week into my the Spring 2016 semester, and I already feel stressed out by the homework load, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I guess I'll start just by saying, my major is biology with an environmental emphasis, currently at Palomar College in San Marcos, California (it's a community college for those wondering, and I live about 45 minutes north of it). Right now I'm trying to get through my general education so I can transfer to a four year, my school of choice is Salem State in Massachusetts. If I stay on track I hope to transfer in the Fall of 2017, so it's getting kind of close. This semester I'm not taking any of my Bio classes, and that is killing me. I have no class to look forward to throughout the day, so it is a little rough to get up in the morning and get ready.

So far I have been late to my first class at 8:00 A.M. 2 times in the 2 days of the semester because the freeway has been a mess... Seriously it took me almost 2 hours to make a 45 minute drive yesterday. So now I need to get up even earlier (I'm already getting up at 5:30 in the morning), just to make sure I make it on time.

This rant is pretty much over for now, or this would go on even longer, but feel free to add things talk about your classes, or geek out over your major.

I'm not in undergrad anymore, but I am at a university getting my PhD in molecular toxicology, so I can commiserate about the classes you are taking. If you need help or want to talk about science let me know!

Yay another science geek! Haha I know I'm gonna struggle through my botany class in a semester or so, and maybe genetics a little. Luckily for the botany side I have an uncle who is one of the leading orchid experts in at least the United States. I'm always more than happy to talk science (it kind of makes my boyfriend's eyes glaze over though).

Gotcha, I'm sure you will do fine in botany. Never took many classes in plant biology, my training is mostly in molecular biology and biochemistry.

BOTANY! Not a college student anymore, but I just graduated with my MS in Plant Biology last July, so I'm more used to being a student than not being one lol.
Botany is really easy if you've got a good visual memory, because it involves a lot of memorization, but if that's not your thing it can be tough.

Cool, what kind of research do you do?

aah, college. i have fond memories of the hardship of college life. lol i was never the best student and preferred the social aspect of my college tenure. study hard, reach your goals and i hope u have fun along the way.

anyway i studied Geography/GIS and Urban Dynamics, but it's not what i actually ended up doing.

    Re: Calling All College Students

I guess I'm okay at recalling things from visuals, but plants have just never been my thing. But I did find the marine plants and alga section of my marine bio class interesting last semester...
