Attached is a photo of my viv (appreciating it is too big for a 4 ft python but its all I have to work with) I've filled it with some bits and bobs to try make the python feel a bit more sheltered, still need to get two more ideally sized, similar hides for each end. Currently have two water bowls to try raise humidity which is around 45 at the moment. Temperature in the hot end has a potential to be spot on and same for the cold end, heating this tank using a single 100W ceramic bulb. My concerns come in the fact that this morning I checked the viv and the thermostat read 28 for ambient which seemed great yet the floor temperature was as low as 21 degrees in the cold end! and around 25ish in the hot end! I guess I'm asking on a better method of automating the heating in here that will be more accurate for such a big vivarium.
Any advice is greatly appreciated wether it be different methods of heating or new products or where to place the thermostat and thermometer probes. thanks.
Also, I recently noticed the python making a squeeking noise when I picked it up, I searched it and realied its a symptom of RI. I may be paranoid but I know the temperatures in the vivarium are varying quite a bit but i'm trying to stay ontop of it but I know this can cause RI, anyone else ever had a snake do this without the RI? or is it time to go to a vet? Thanks again.
