    Herpstat 1 or 2?

So I'm going to build myself a rack. I'm starting with a 2 or 3 shelf jouvenile rack made out of pvc sheeting. As my snakes (and collection) grows, as I'm sure it will, I will likely build another rack for 32 and/or 41qt tubs (adults).

Would it be better to have a Herpstat 1 for each rack, or a Herpstat 2 that just controls both racks, individually, of course.

Is it just a matter of preference or is there any benefit of having it one way or the other?

one benefit of having a Herpstat 1 (or any thermostat) for each rack is that if it for whatever reason fails, it won't affect rack #2, #3, etc. etc.

Like Ax01 said, having 1 per rack does cover the bases incase of a failure. I personally use a Herpstat 1 for my big BCI girl and a Herpstat 2 for my little BCI girl and my BP girl. I do have Hydrofarms in the drawer as backups if anything happens though.

I have four Herpstat units. My Herpstat 2 and 4 are my favorites. If you know your collection will be growing I say get a unit that can help grow your collection.

The Herpstat 2 and 4 can do much more than just work as a thermostat.

To answer the question a tad further though. If the two racks are not going to be close to each other you may need two separate units. If not, the Herpstat 2 will certainly be the best choice. Cheaper than buying two 1s and has more functions.

Cool... thank you guys. I'll be building the racks with plans on the smaller one sitting on top of the larger one when the day comes. I like to keep things looking clean and tidy.

I'm thinking I may go with the 2... Thank you all again for your input.
