I Shipped My First BP Yesterday!

yay, i successfully shipped my first BP yesterday afternoon. no, it wasn't a BP i bred or sold. Lol i was sent the wrong BP last week and i only returned it/shipped it back.

here's the beautiful orange 1.0 Clown that was in my care for a week. i used the original box and packaging materials with a new Uniheat pack to keep him warm on his journey back.

i tried to drop him off at a FedEx office/Kinko's. the guy inquired about the perishable and i said it was a harmless reptile. he backed off and said that wasn't allowed and i had to be certified. i said the breeder was. he then said i had to go to a worldwide hub, so i did.

i plan on breeding as a hobby and selling snakes to break even. so i'll read more about shipping practices in the Shipping sub-forum.

anyway i was surprised at the reaction. he totally backed off, didn't touch the box after i said that it was a harmless reptile. a baby BP. it was as if i had a cobra. he seemed more concerned about his own safety rather than the care of the live animal.

thank for reading. i just wanted to share my first experience shipping and the super cool BP i had for a week.
    RIP Mamba

I feel that was a overreaction on his part and also a element of ignorance as well. Firstly, it's nice to be certified to ship but not a requirement. Especially if you are shipping through SYR ( ship your reptiles). Did you have the appropriate "live animal desk" stamp affixed to the box? Because that stamp is the authorization for you to ship through SYR and "all pro shipping". They , all pro shipping is blanketing the shipment under their certification. That is with the understanding that you have adhered to the shipping standards that they put forward to safeguard the animal , the public and yourself. Looking at the pics it appears you did that. I would chalk it up to a uninformed worker who was not aware of the true standard. Don't let that discourage you it was him and not you. Stay in peace and not pieces.

Amazing, the scaredy cats out there. And the critter is boxed too.

Some folks need to get off of their PlayStations for a while and visit the Zoo and Pet stores.

    Good job!

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

    1.2 Coastal Carpet Pythons
    Mack The Knife, 2013
    Lizzy, 2010
    Etta, 2013
    1.1 Jungle Carpet Pythons

    Sundance, 2012
2.0 Common BI Boas, Punch, 2005; Butch, age?
0.1 Normal Ball Python, Elvira, 2001
0.1 Olive (Aussie) Python, Olivia, 2017

Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.

Good for you. I think I would have had a very difficult time sending him back. I mean, he looks like a nice example of a reduced clown.

Also, and I'm just playing Devil's advocate here, but doesn't the law state if something is sent to you but you didn't order it, the recipient is under no obligation to tell the Seller they don't want the item, pay for the item, or return said item? Hmmm?

Anyways, so what was it you were supposed to have received and can it still be shipped with the weather turning quite cold now?

yeah, i just used a new (return) label and the same box. so i already had all the stickers.

that lil' Clown was awesome. full black dorsal stripe, reduced pattern, orange brightness and a funky headstamp. he took 1 live hopper with me. lol i was surprised when i got one this nice and bright.

anyway i got a less expensive Clown.

breeders are still selling and sending animals. also they have offered to hold animals due to weather and the holiday shipping traffic flow. just monitoring temps and not shipping when temps are too low.

    pix are up.

also i was talking to my FedEx guy this morning. he said that the FedEx Office (formerly known as Kinko's) won't accept animals, perishables and dry ice. Lol they do ship reptiles, snakes, polar bears, pandas, etc. at the hubs tho. anyway the guy from yesterday's fearful response was still an overreaction IMO.

Clown is on my list of morphs I want to own. I'm so jealous. Even if you did get shipped the wrong one first. Can't wait to see pics of the new baby snake!
