Well I tried to feed Jojo on saturday and he wasn't interested. He is going into shed again so i gave him a good soak while i cleaned his enclosure and put new bedding in. Lucky for me i feed F/K and not live because that rat was mean so i put it in a ziploc bag and stuck it in the freezer. I will thaw out the rat when he sheds then he will eat for me.
I slowed his feeding schedul to 1 small to medium size rat every 2 weeks. The last time he ate was 2 weeks ago.
This has only happened once in his life and that was the last time he shed. The times before he ate even when his eyes were blue. So maybe now he is acting like a ball python and not a piggy.
Another question:
He is spending an awful lot of time on his hides instead of in them, and i have heard that the males do that when they are looking for a mate. Is that true?
Thanks,
Damien

As long as he isn't losing weight and has good muscle tone I wouldn't worry about him missing a meal or two. As far as resting on top of his hide instead of in it there are a number of things that could be.
#1. He just doesn't want to be in his hide. Simple as that.
#2. How are you heating his cage/rack? If it is by a overhead heat source, he may just be basking. If it is by some type of UTH it may be too warm for him under the hide. Check your temps under his hide, and make sure he hasn't pushed all of the substrate out of the way. Adjust accordingly.
#3. I haven't heard of males resting on top of their hides when looking for a mate, but I suppose it's possible. How old is he and what does he weigh? Take this into consideration.
#4. ????? Balls are weird. Each has it's own personality and some do strange things. If he's healthy and "happy" (not that he's going to run to great you when you get home) and he wants to rest on top then so be it.

I am not worried about him being on his hide its just weird. He is 2 years old and now weighs in at 950 Grams an is about 36-40" long. He isn't losing weight at all. I think he must find snacks at night time because he is a fatty.
Thanks,
Damien
