Just the natural heat of our house. I live in Texas and we like it a little warm so I don't worry about ambient in any of snakes tank

If you haven't already purchased the enclosure, I'd recommend looking into PVC cages. You can find something that offers a similar amount of space but it'll be much easier to maintain temperatures and humidity, since that's what they're designed for. Glass is a poor insulator. You can use a RHP for heat and the whole unit will look very neat - no big lamps on top. Lighting is only necessary if you don't have natural ambient light in the room to provide a day/night cycle, but if you want it lighted I'd recommend LED strips. ok maybe a dumb question but...how do you mount the RHPs with a screen lid? Or do you just lay it on top? My lids slide in to lock.

Not sure with a slide lock. With the drop in bolt lock like the E-T, you can mount them to the bottom side of the screen. The provided screws provided will need to be swapped for bolts, and use a nut with a nice wide flat washer on top of the screen for weight distribution. From what I've read, they should be placed in the enclosure. If placed directly on the screen, they can trip the thermal safety fuze. Maybe contact Reptile Basics to reverify that info.

We screw our RHPs through into 1x2s which sit on top of the screen. It spreads the weight out more than washers (but as a Civil Engineer I do tend toward overkill)

This is a great idea, I think I may have to steal it.

To be completely clear, is it blue and red lights entirely that the reptiles cant really see, or is it some special light wavelengths that the night bulbs produce? Id like to get a color changing LED strip but I want to be sure I can 24/7 the blue lights.

To my knowledge they can't see the blue and red lights. But I'm no expert nor have I done enough research. Just have an idea in mind for my tanks. Since I don't use heat lamps

Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I have another related question..

If I have a heating panel on the top of the case and and a UTH under it, will I need 2 thermostats to regulate them both?
