Sometimes he prowls sometimes he ambushes!

When I'm heating up Louie's rat, he always comes out of hiding and is ready for it! But sometimes he crawls around his cage like crazy and other times he sticks his head and neck out of his hide in an S shape like he is on the ambush for his rat. Is both normal, just bps being theirbusual weird selves or is one usually an indicator of something or another? He eats very well tho either ways he always takes it and eats it! I'm very proud of him

I've had better luck with them eating when they're in the "s" shape ready to strike, partially out of their hide if they have one. When I see my Bp's in this position I take it as a sign they want to eat. When they're cruising around, my shy eaters will not eat if I offer to them in their current cruising state. Other good eaters will, though.

When I just tossed the live rat in the tank Beetlejuice would usually strike from his hide and ambush them as they came by.

Now my feeding day routine involves going to get the feeders, and then I will put the feeders to the side, wash my hands (and havent really handled the feeders yet).. and do handling, water change, spot cleaning, freshen up any substrate as needed, then put him back in the enclosure. I let him wander around and do his thing, usually goes up on a vine or log now. Once he's chill, I drop both feeders in (Crawler rats) and he will typically strike one from above, and when done, will go stalk the other one. Quite fascinating to watch.

I've never been struck at on feeding day, and I've very deliberate in how I handle/retrieve him (every time, not just feeding day).. mostly thanks to advice I obtained here.
