I was offered a trade but now...
Hey everyone,
I posted some photo's of my 2014 1460 gram Super Fire female on facebook after she had shed and someone offered me a trade,
he wanted to trade a very beautiful 2015 Mojave pied male for her AND I said no...
and now I am not sure if I made the right choise, what do you guys think?
I know a Mojave Pied costs more then a Super Fire, but like I said the Super Fire is a female and I have some plans for her (breed to a Pastel Pied for Firefly het Pieds and breed to a Pastel Clown the season after for Firefly het. Clowns)
let me know what you guys think!
thanks,
Andrew

I think your first instinct was probably spot on.
It's not really about the prices. You have plans for this girl in your breeding projects. Do you have plans that would require the trade snake instead that you would prefer to do?
I'm doing my best to only acquire females for breeding purposes. So that's always in the back of my mind when I am offered deals.

The value is probably the same to be honest because one is 2015 and the other is what I consider ready to breed so ultimately it's about going with your plan or make new plan that you will have to wait for, for at least 2 to 3 years.

Re: I was offered a trade but now...
First, there will always be something else you don't have so don't let that cause you remorse. If you already have plans to breed then that is what you should do. It's always exciting producing something from your hard work and time. What are you planning to pair with your girl? Depending on the results you may be able to sell the hatchlings you don't keep and have a substantial payment towards a pied. Prices are coming down a bit so they may be a little better priced by the time you have sold your babies. Also, human nature tends to make us susceptible to wanting what's in front of us, like window shopping. So ask yourself if you were shopping for a pied, would it be a Mojave Pied or would it be something else?

This caught my eye and just wanted to point out that the multiple pairings with different recessives is not a good idea. It's rare but they can retain sperm over seasons and you're setting yourself up for a potential headache. If you're doing it just on your own, then it doesn't really matter I guess, but it would be poor practice to label any of the offspring as het clowns if you plan on selling them.

true,
I mentioned a Pastel Pied to breed to my Super Fire and then a Clown the season after and I now see what you are getting at and i agree.
If it indeed is gonna be a Pastel Pied I breed to her I will do a co-dom pairing after that and then use the Clown male after that BUT I am actually hoping to hatch my own Killer Pied (the odds are slim, thats why i said pastel pied) and when using a Killer pied it will be pretty save to breed the Clown male the season after as if it is gonna be retained sperm the babies are all gonna be Pastel.

NEVER a mojave pied male worth more than a ready to breed 1 year and a half super fire. that girl have much more potential except if you have a special/ghi pied to put with him.... really low chance. plus, most of collections have enchi pastel or lesser pastel even a bumblebee... for the more basic. those pairing will give you shots to easy sells animals and few hold back stunners. het. pieds can be hard to go. honestly even if he add a 2kg pastel female to the deal i will still refuse.
I can imagine your girl in my collection plug to my OD fire enchi , firefly dream YB or fire dream bee russo!!!! god!!
you never have too much Fire, YB, enchi, OD combos in a collection. those cleaner / ehancer /brightener genes makes almost everything better. the only thing a will pick over your super fire girl are at the same size: DG girl, a good clown girl, super enchi girl, super OD girl. and to exchange against a breeder male.... i ll maybe think about it for a monarch, sunset, puzzle .
keep your girl man, e will talk about it next year when your hachling will crawl... you won t regret it
1.0 superstripe, killerbee, OD spider fire, black pastel YB, black specter, pastel dinker, spider dinker, banana, banana cinnamon, enchi fire OD, fire dream bee het. russo, pastel superstripe, 2.0 firefly dream YB.

Even strictly money wise, A 1400g super fire female is worth more than a mojave pied male imo, i wouldn't even think twice about that trade.
