Progression of Bci setups
Hi everyone,
I was hoping somebody good help me out with some information I'm having trouble finding.
This is may be to general of a question but: what is the recommended size progression of enclosures from a baby Central American boa to an adult?
i know babies can be kept in relatively small enclosures but how long are they comfortable there? Do people generally have a yearling-sub adult enclosure as well before upgrade to a 4'-5' long adult enclosure?
I'm waiting to pick up a young boa sometime in the near future but definitely won't have room for a full adult sized enclosure for about 10-12 months... Does that give me enough time or should I hold off till early spring to pick one up?
thanks a lot!!

They grow at different rates but in 10-12 months it shouldn't require an adult size enclosure. I have a two year old female Kahl albino who is fine in a 41-qt tub in a rack.

This is a 18 month old rc pastel (deap in shed) in a 41 qt tub... remember boas grow slow and dont need the food intake of other species

Thanks guys! Ya I really like the fact that boas grow slowly... I saw one of the breeders in my area comment on Facebook "I get my boas up to breeding size quickly, feed them twice a week sometimes". Immediately crossed him off my list as someone I would buy from haha!
the 41 qt tub is too large for a baby though right? I assume they would need something about half that size. I easily already have space for a 41 qt tub, I was just thinking for an adult sized display type case might be tight right now .. But sounds like I could get one right away and I'll have lots of time to make some room for something like that later on. Especially if I can use the 41 qt for a while, of course depends on the growth rate of the particular snake!
thanks again!

Yes a 41-quart tub will be way too big BUT if you clutter it up with fake vines and hides you can make it work. Boas seem to adapt better to oversized enclosures than ball pythons do.

Agreed. ..I have a 8 month old in a 41q and she has no problem. .she could definitely go into a 28 qt but I have an open 41 so why not .

Great! Thanks for the info guys!
i'll start with a 28 and move to a up to a 41 at about 12 months or so. And then eventually up grade to a full sized pic display enclosure
