Just got a new ball python

Hello, I just got a new ball python and I'm new to this. She is about 3 feet long and 3 years old and I have her in a 40 gallon terrarium. I just wanna know if there is anything any of you would suggest I get or need. I'll attach a picture of my set up and snake in this post. I fed her 1 frozen/thawed white mouse Friday. The temp is usually at around 85-75 and the humidity at 40.

Do you guys have any tips, concerns, helpful comments, or anything I need to know about owning a ball python?
I know she's not a cool or unique morph but I think shes pretty cool

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. All of them are cool and pretty in their own way. As long as you're happy with her and taking care of her then its all good. You should have a warm side in the 89-90 degree range with the cool side closer to 78-80 or so. She should be able to easily take down more than 1 mouse at a feeding though. Rats offer more nutrition than a mouse. So I would up the feeding on her. There is a lot or resources here and youtube to help you along the way.

Alright, thanks. Do you have any suggestions on how I can increase the temperature? I am using a red lamp right now, I'm thinking of going and buying a stronger one if need be. I'm going to change the feed day to Wednesday so she can have 2 days to digest and I'll be able to handle her a little on the weekend. Also, like you said, I'll try to get her to eat 2 frozen/thawed white mice. I have one question though. Do I wait an hour or so after she eats the first mouse to offer the next? Or do I give both mice right after each other?

Congrats on your first BP. As far as the temperature goes, if you do not have one already you will need a UTH (unther the tank heater) and a thermostat. DO NOT plug the heater in without a thermostat. If you can I highly recommend a Herpstat. They are expensive but they are great.

Your humidity is slightly low. I would suggest bumping it up to around 50%. And while she is in shed increase it to around 60-75%. An excellent caresheet can be found here: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...s%29-Caresheet

First of all, you have come to the right place. This site is full of amazing info to keep you on the right path to keeping your snake happy and healthy. The members know their stuff and, generally are very patient and nice about dishing it out. Read the caresheets and all of the posts related to your species - you'll be surprised at what you will learn by going through all of the replies. Also, one thing that a lot of people do not know (who haven't thoroughly checked out this forum) is that this site is a lot more than just about ball pythons. There is information here on any species of snake and (probably) reptile available out there as pets, and then some. Welcome and enjoy - don't be afraid to ask anything.

As Boom said, an UTH heater is the best heating method. Always use a thermostat though to prevent burning your snake. Also, you can just wait a few minutes after she's finished feeding to off the second meal. Good luck
