    Planted aquarium

    Since the fish section on here is kinda dead does anyone know how much dirt I would need for a 65 gallon tank it's rectangular it's more square

    Can you post the length and width of the tank? I think that might help, although I don't have any dirted tanks.

    I'm actually into planted aquariums/aquascaping too. Are you going for the dirted planted tank for the first time? This needs a lot more research than one might expect, or you can easily end up with a gigantic messy failure and dead fish (if you use the wrong type of dirt).

    Also be aware that if you use peat moss, it will make your water very yellow for a long time as you wait for the tannins to soak out.

    How much dirt totally depends on how thick of a substrate you want. Going by 3~4" of substrate maximum is easiest.
