is this odd behavior?

i got my first snake today!! she's a bumblebee ball python and i got her from a breeder. she was balled up while we were in the car and when we came home she un-balled herself. she was tense but not balled up. as soon as i put her in her enclosure she started exploring everything. she still is actually! she also keeps looking at me. she yawned and the breeder said she was last fed sunday. why would she be yawning then? she is a year and nine months old and about two pounds. should i be worried about how she isn't shy? everything i've read said she should be more reluctant than she is. don't get me wrong i love it! i'm just worried there might be something going on. also should i be worried about how she yawned even though she ate two days ago?

She is in a new environment and this behavior is totally normal. If yawning and exploring is the only symptoms it is definitely nothing to worry about. Ball Pythons yawn... some do it to show off what weaponry they carry, to readjust their jaws, or simply just to yawn. I wouldn't be jumping to the wrong conclusions right away or this snake keeping thing is going to be a lot more stressful for you when it totally does not have to be. Just leave her alone. Stay out of her sights as she gets used to her new environment. Not all ball pythons are shy.

When I got my girl she explored her new environment for what felt like forever! I was worried too, but she eventually went into one of her hides and now she hides for most of the day and comes out for a little bit every night. You'll learn her personality and the way she behaves soon enough, until then let her settle in, no handling for a week or so until you know she's comfortable in her new environment! And yeah... BP's yawn! Every time I see Noodles doing it I honestly think it's absolutely adorable!

This sounds odd but sometimes introducing them to their hides helps them go in and then once they are in there they don't want to come out lol. You can pick her up and direct her head into the hide and I bet she will slither right in this has worked for me when I have some that don't want to use them lol. Congrats on your new snakey baby you'll have tons of fun with her.
