This is soooooo off topic and nasty but I really need advice quick

So, here is the story. I pay rent to live in a house way out in the country. We have a septic system and well water. Well, here is the problem, the septic system has been backed up now since Sunday evening and we called our property management people that we pay our rent to. They keep saying that someone will be out to take care of this problem but to no avail has anyone even showed up to deal with this. Our landlord is an older gentlemen that owns this house and he is a farmer. The property management people always handle any emergencies or maintenance that needs to be done with this house. I keep calling them everyday telling them that no one has come out here to suck out the septic and everyday it is the same old BS story that they are working on it.

I am beyond frustrated and this is the most disgusting situation I have ever dealt with in my life. Now common sense is basically knowing that the septic backing up and coming up in the drain in the bath tub is NOT a healthy thing. Why is no one out here taking care of this???? I am so beyond pissed right now. I am ready to call someone and find out exactly what my rights are as a tenant that pays rent. Why is my landlord dragging his heels and what the hell is property management going to do to rectify this messy situation??? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

you should be able to call the land lord one more time and be like 'listen this is unlivable conditions, and if i were to call the city about this you would have a LOT more to deal with. either get somebody out here TODAY or I will be calling and finding a service on my own, and you can credit my rent'. he has legal responsibilities to you, and this is not an ok thing to drag out. He can't threaten to evict you or ANYTHING like that for hounding him, although if this is his style management you may want to consider leaving anyway. Good luck, that sucks.

I can tell you that sewage backing up into your home is absolutely a major infraction by the landlord, which MUST be remediated immediately. If it were me I would be banging on the door to the management company, and threatening legal recourse. Management is required to maintain safe and healthy living situations on the property.

Thank you so much for confirming EXACTLY what I already figured. Made my call to the city and they are having a chat with the landlord and the property management as I type this. This is highly disgusting and unacceptable.
