I disagree. On the second picture, the one to the back looks like a banana bumblebee but the one to the front look like a banana spider.

Is it because of the higher white sides? I can't really tell any other way.

Yes, that is one of the reasons, but also the head patterns. If you look at the normal bumble bees and see how the pattern broken and white? The Banana "bumblebee" has that broken pattern while the other one "spider" does not.

Only way I can really tell is with time as of right now. I've had people say they're both. Whatever they are, they are most likely the same. The do gain more of the yellow as they grow, so once they start I can compare them to my other banana bumblebee male to see what they are.
