New Snake owner! Humidity?

So My humidity on the gauge says its close to 88%, which yes. I realize is high, it has just been increasing all day. I moved the gauge a little away from the water dish and I'm not sure if the gauge may just be unreliable, but what are some of the warning signs of too much humidity???

I keep my snakes anywhere from 75% to 85%. I wouldn't worry too much about anything over 90%.

Please be advised that excess humidity can be as detrimental to snake wellbeing as scarce humidity. Taken from the BP care sheet:

"50%-60%
60%-70% during a shed cycle

Providing the proper humidity required by your Ball python is important in maintaining good health and non-problematic sheds. Both excessive and inadequate humidity levels can lead to illness in the form of respiratory infections and a very damp environment easily lends itself to the growth of mold and fungus which can contribute bacterial or fungal infections, scale or belly rot."

Try installing a heat bulb or ceramic heating bulb to pull some of the humidity out.
