Thanks asherah fot sharing the photos of your pastel het pied male! He really does almost look calico. I even asked the breeder i got my make from last year if he had calico in him and he said no. I tried looking up photos of other pastels but yours is the first i have seen that looks like my male. Have you ever bred your male? My male has, as far as i know, sired 2 clutches. One for his former owner (GetMorphed) and once for me. He has not produced any pied off spring, but has strong pied markers on his belly. And the offspring i have from him are all starting to get his white sides. Maybe it is linked to the pied gene?
Anyone have a pastel with high white sides thzt is Not het pied?
Thanks,
Missina

He has produced clutches for his former owner, with pied offspring, I have not yet bred him as this will be my first year breeding. I do not know if any of his offspring have high white sides like he does. I know the breeder I got him from pretty well, so it would be nothing to ask.
If I remember correctly the pastel poss het pied female I have is his offspring. My records state that she was from a het pied to a pastel het pied breeding that produced pied. I can't say for sure though if she was from one of his clutches or I just assumed such being that she came from the same breeder. She certainly has a similar look, but I have not noted that she has any extra white. She's at about 550g and honestly I haven't paid that much attention. I will grab her out for a few pictures when I get home if you would like.
Edit: Out of curiosity do all the babies you posted have tack markers?

3 out of the 4 offspring from my male show strong tracks, and the 4th one is in shed right now so I did not post her photo, but she has weak tracks that are not like her siblings. I will see what her sides look like after she sheds this time.
I am very interested to see what you get from your male when you breed him! I wish you the best of luck with him. keep me in mind and share pics of his offspring when you get them

Hi FrostysBP, is your pastel also het for pied? its kind of difficult to tell if it has the high white sides due to the flash.
