Alternative to heat lamps.....?
Ok guys, what else can I use to warm Ginger's tank that heat lamps? They are sooooo drying. She has her UTH, but of course, I need another heat source for her.
Thanks in advance!

If you got a fish tank your kinda stuck with lamps unless you heat the entire room...if you have a enclosure with a solid top you could get a radiant heat panel

If you control the ventilation on the top you don't need a secondary heat source in addition to the heat pad. There is a foil treatment protocol on here. Or you can grab a piece of plexiglass, or I have used a small melamine board on top of the cage to help keep in heat and humidity. I would cover at least 80-90 percent of the top.l As long as your room isn't insanely cold you should be fine. Take the ambient temps down at snake height, not at the top of the cage where the animal will never be. Im sure the heat pad will get the ambients up into at least the high 70s.

Thanks! The screen top is covered with foil insulation, with holes cut out of it for the 2 lamps. I have one ceramic bulb, and a red heat bulb. I've never thought to turn the off to see what would happen......

My BP was setup much likes yours seems to be. I like it cold so my temps were not good for my BP. I had a 100w che and a 60w bulb with the uth. I covered the sides of the tank with thick art paper and made a foil covered cardboard cutout for the top. Doing that and using cypress mulch with damp moss in both hides I always had perfect sheds.

48x12x36. Essentially, a 60 or 65 gallon aquarium
