Bad Eggs

Is there anything a person can do to prevent eggs from going bad? Even with proper humidity and temperatures, do some eggs go bad regardless?

Some eggs are just duds, even if they look normal and healthy on the outside. The best you can do is keep your parameters right, be patient and cross your fingers.

agree. Unfortunately some just go bad and when they do, typically its out of your control. For me its usually mold, so I use an anti-fungal powder and try to wipe the bad egg every few days. Takes some effort but sometimes it works. Just hatched a clutch that included a bad egg I nursed thru the process. Some also use liquid bandaid which I've tried as well. Good luck! It's not too common for an egg to "go bad" during the incubation process. Normally that's just an egg that was unfertilized to begin with. I'm not sure what would cause a healthy egg to go bad during incubation, if all incubating parameters were on point.

Thank you for the responses. For the first three weeks, the mom maternally incubated the eggs because I couldn't get them away from her. Then, she pretty much abandoned the eggs, so then I put them in the incubator. One of the eggs deflated and started to grow fur, but the other four still continue to show good veins even thought they are a bit dented. I should know in about three to four weeks either way. Hopefully I should see some little noses poking out soon!
