Re: Hatchling help? What type, etc? Thank you!
Wow......Be with the parents???? The male and female shouldn't be together at all unless breeding.... Hatchlings should only be assist fed as a last resort. Live hopper mice should be offers 5 days after its first shed. Keep it in a 6qt tub on wet paper towel until it sheds with a hot spot of 86. I would suggest doing a lot of reading. The search button has vast amounts of knowledge here...

Re: Hatchling help? What type, etc? Thank you!
So the parents have been together in a 100 gallon cage for 3 years, and had a clutch of 3 eggs 2 months ago (obv) so I don't see what the problem with that is.
And I asked about being with the parents (or mother) because I thought maybe they did that in the wild. I mean, do the hatchlings just go about on their own once hatched and it becomes dangerous to stay with the mom? I doubt that...
I definitely won't assist feed unless it's the last resort, was just curious. I do have a 8qt tub set up with the moist paper towels, a mini water dish and a hideout.
Thanks for the reply, was super helpful!

The parents wouldn't live together in the wild. Why start worrying about that (the wild) now?

So i can eat mcdonalds all day everyday but is that good for me?????Cohabitation is not the best idea for novice keepers... Cannibalism can and dose happen not to mention health factors and unexpected clutchs that people don't know what to do with. Research is your best friend and I would suggest you do lots of it.

Usually separation after hatching is normal. They are going to look for warm areas with high humidity. Keep the humidity up so they can shed well. After they shed let them be alone for 5-7 days. And then try a live hopper mouse or rat pinkie. Which ever you prefer. If they skip a meal or two don't worry. Just keep the hydrated and they eventually learn. Good luck.
