My baby bit me
I have a fairly new Western Hognose male. He's about a year old and I've had him a little over two weeks.
Its been somewhat 48 hours since he ate a pinkie. I was absentmindedly reading the internet while handling him, doing hand over hand. I only hold him about 5 minutes at a time right now. I noticed a pricking sensation that got sharper, looked down and realized he was trying to mouth the middle of my middle finger, working it in to try to chew. Pulled him off but continued holding him, before realizing he was licking another middle finger with more interest than my snakes usually have in me. I had fed my fish frozen bloodworm earlier and gotten some pieces all over my hands. I think he liked the smell.
I can still feel the impression of sharpness, but there's no mark. Is it going to swell up?

Well now we know why we should always wash up before handling snakes lol. Hognose have a small amount of venom but it's pretty much harmless unless you are super sensitive and let him chew on you for a while. That's probably what you're feeling. It is uncomfortable but you'll survive.

It's funny what hognoses will think is a food smell. One day I was cleaning my crested gecko cage and forgot to wash my hands after. When I went to get mocha(my hognose) out she latched on. Didn't hurt just surprised me.
