    Rack lock system

The "lock system" I got with my snake rack were pegs that fit pretty loose and thus have gradually lost pegs. My question is would the pegs be truly necessary to use the rack. If so what could I use as a replacement for pegs?

If the tubs fit the rack properly, there's no need for the pegs to keep snakes inside. As far as what to use instead? Without seeing the rack it's hard to say.

    Re: Rack lock system

I put a bracket piece on the back of my rack so the tubs don't push out the back(its an open back). They are about 1-2 inches long flat with a hole at each end. I screwed it into the shelf and it sticks down to keep tub from going out the back. As far as the front I used a pipe that removes easily and goes right down the center of the rack in front of the tubs. I built my rack from melamine. Just a little anal about making sure I have no escapes.

    Re: Rack lock system

Ahh. The tubs fit fine and I have tested it with my snakes to see if they could any way push them out.
I can post pictures in the morning, but it seems that I won't need a replacement peg

    Re: Rack lock system

I've yet to have an escapist, and all my racks have 1/8" gap from the top of the tub, to the next shelf up.

But an alternative method of locking is a u clip art the top and bottom and a piece of pvc tube that slides in locking tubs into the rack.

This is what I added to my rack since the tubs are long ways.

Thanks guys! I'm only concerned about one escape artist snake. But she seems to be secure in the tub
