    Distant Breeding Plans (Very Distant)

When I was researching good beginner snakes one of the things that really attracted me to ball pythons was the genetic variability. I've always found genetics very interesting. I've played a lot of online breeding sims (furry-paws, wajas, howrse, etc.). I also had guppies for a couple years and liked to watch the different kinds of babies grow up. I've only had my bp for 8 days lol, so I'm sure it would be a few years before I made serious plans to breed. I don't even want to get another snake until I can handle this one comfortably (he's young so a little defensive).

I fell in love with the Axanthic gene when I first started googling pictures of ball pythons. Now whenever I look at a morph the first thought that pops in my head is "I wonder what that would look like Axanthic" and then I have to google it lol. My dream snake is an Axanthic with a really sharp black and white contrast. Something like these:

    Axanthic Killer Bee

    http://www.worldofballpythons.com/fi...pastel/002.jpg

    Axanthic Super Pastel

But I didn't really find any black and white Axanthics that I liked when browsing for my first snake. So I hope to one day breed some. I'm also very interested in combining Axanthic with other dark and grey tone morphs. I'd love to hear other people's ideas. I'm very new, so not familiar with a lot of morphs.

When I saw Orochimaru I fell in love and had to have him. He's a VPI Axanthic Champagne.
    http://www.dreptiles.com/wp-content/.../07/image3.jpg

It seems a lot people think Champagne takes away from most morphs. Anybody know of morphs that are actually complimented by Champagne? I've also been reading about the wobble gene. Some people completely avoid it, others don't mind because it normally doesn't affect their quality of life. My biggest question is how unsafe is it to breed morphs that carry the wobble gene, such as a champagne x spider? From what I've read double champagne is lethal. But is it less dangerous to breed a champagne x spider than a champagne x champagne or a spider x spider?

What kind of girls do you guys think I should look at getting for Orochimaru in the future? I want them all to be at least het Axanthic if not visuals. And I know I have to stick with VPI since the different lines aren't compatible to each other. I would also prefer to have low odds of hatching normals. So I'm thinking a few co-dom females that are het axanthic. What kind of recessives do you guys think pair well with axanthic? I'm also considering a nice multi gene male spider, such as a killerbee het axanthic, since I'm leery about breeding champagne x spider.

I think I'll keep this thread updated with my ideas for possible females and other males.

Enchi compliments it well, brings some pattern back to it. Look up a champagne enchi.

I'd agree that enchi adds the best pattern to champagnes. I'm sure an axanthic enchi champ would be super nice!

From everything I've read, champagne x spider is lethal and I would not do any champagne x champagne or champagne x spider pairings myself.

Those do sound pretty awesome. And I can't find any pics, it would be neat to breed a first.

Yeah I don't think it would be safe to breed any wobble x wobble.

Nice! Have any idea what type of male you want to breed her to?

You should breed yours to an enchi het. Axanthic. Or find an enchi leopard het. Axanthic. Both bring out the pattern very well in champagnes. Would be amazing to hit on all the genes in one.

I think just a het axanthic male. I eventually want to get a snow, so until I get a male/female axanthic pair that's what I'm going to be doing. After that, who knows

I'll definitely be looking into getting some kind of enchi leopard het axanthic for my boy.
