Heating question.

So, I have 2 ball pythons. One in a 20 gallon long reptile terrarium that is tipped on its side, and the other in a repurposed 55 gallon aquarium. I also have this tipped on its side. This gives my pythons a little more room in their tanks, and makes it easier for me to stack them and still get into the tanks. I have UTH's for each of them which keep their warm side warm. However, I'm wondering how I can increase the temperature in the tanks over all in order to make them more comfortable. The thing is, with the tanks on their sides, I can't put a heat lamp or CHE on top because I doubt that it would penetrate the glass enough to actually increase the temperature. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Short of raising the temperature of the room, I don't think there is much that you're going to be able to do.

What about getting another UTH for the other side of the tank, just turned down low enough to create a gradient? First thing that came to mind

So I guess I'm screwed then. Will it pose a problem if the ambient temperature is only 75ish?

I thought about that, but it won't really raise the ambient temperature, just the temperature of the ground.

Can a RHP be used? I'm wondering how to keep it in place when on a glass ceiling.

I've seen some people stick heat pads on the walls behind enclosures in order to provide a little extra heat. Maybe that will work for you?

I would also go with a second UTH set to 80-82*F and put a hide over it in addition to the hide over the warm side UTH. You won't raise the ambient in the whole tank but the hide over each UTH will trap some warmth under the hide.

Hmmm, I just looked into those(RHPs) Maybe I could either put it on the back glass, or the top. With some aquarium glue that I have left over. I'll have to look more into it though. Thanks for the suggestion!

75 ambient is about as low as you probably wanna go. I think it would be in your best interest to switch from an aquarium to something else if possible.
