I like multiple snakes and multiple species. That way there's usually at least one available that I can fool with if the others are in shed, or just ate, etc.

Re: Multiple snakes
My goal is to have a couple of ball pythons, a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a Hognose and maybe a corn.
Right now I just have a ball python but I'm looking to get a rack as we speak.

Of course it is all with circumstance. Someone in my position do not have the option of bulk food or bedding. I do used uprinted news paper which I get from my local newspaper people but it costs me about $10 a month for a small roll. But because I do not have the option of bulk bedding and if I wanted to use bedding like aspen or cypress, it would cost me $10-$30 to fill one tub. Having 13 ball pythons, it adds up. My boa and corn snake are given bedding. Two 24q fills my corn snakes cage and 4 24q lightly fills my boa's. In Alberta, there is no such thing as live rats so I have to breed my own ASF rats which is cheaper then buying them one by one, but if I had to buy one by one, $10 for an adult ASF once a week for a single snake... well I am sure you can do the math. Not everyone has the same options. And either way you look at it, one snake is still more expensive then one... which was the whole point of my earlier comment.

I don't think you're shopping right. Also, sweet lord how much bedding do you think it takes to fill a tub? I've bought a 20 dollar bag of compressed aspen shavings at a reptile expo and it lasted me a good 3 months with between 3 and 6 snakes and would have been longer except I switched to paper towels, which is still only about 6 to 10 dollars a month for 11 snakes at this point (depending on poo frequency). Ordering bulk frozen rodents online is also cheaper, since small rats will run about 2 or 3 dollars per (plus 30 dollars for shipping, but eh). Part of owning lots of snakes is shopping efficiently.

I sure would if my snakes weren't on live food. It is cheaper for me to breed my own, but some people do not have this option. Good for you being able to. I do not have an online store here to buy bulk. I have never heard of compressed aspen. Pine yes, but not aspen. The only aspen and cypress available to me is the zoo med or national geographic from the local pet stores. Not even my local garden center carries anything. They have pine for horse stall and cedar bark for garden beds. Its not like I haven't checked. Zoo med cypress, the cheapest I can get a 32q is $49. I have searched, doesn't mean I shop the wrong way. I just don't have the options like you do. And if I was to ship from the US, it would cost me the same amount as buying from my local pet stores since shipping itself is cost by weight.

Re: Multiple snakes
Note to self, don't move to Canada.
That is horrible that you have to pay those prices.
A frozen rat from the pet store is 4 dollars. A mouse is 2 dollars.
