    unfertilized follicles

I have a 2 females that I cooled down in november and I have put a male in with them 4 or 5 times , but I never saw any locks with her or my other female either. My male just would not breed this year for some reason. The other female is back on food so she obviously did not ovulate or produce either. One female however seems to have pretty large follicles... I have not seen any signs of ovulation and honestly thought that she just didnt go this year either, but I cant get her back on live or f/t food and its been 7 months since last feed. I guess she could possibly be egg bound?? but I feel like she has just has huge follicles and no one to fertilize them. What is the best thing to do here? will the follicles eventually pass or dissolve? Im just worried that I cant get her back on food as long as she has them, and my male still doesn't show any signs of interest.
    thanks for any help

    Re: unfertilized follicles

How old/large is your male? Are you certain your male is a male? If your female is getting big and hasn't ovulated yet, I would continue trying to pair the male with her, especially on rainy days as the low pressure systems seems to stimulate activity. Worse case scenario is she absorbs the follicles and nothing happens. Best case is they lock and she lays. Best of luck whatever you decide.

    Re: unfertilized follicles

yea he is a 2010 proven male... i honestly think that I had been feeding him too much and maybe he is a little lazy...after reading about males being lazy sometimes, I have cut him back to only small rats...that could also be a possible reason he is not breeding b/c I didn't feed him as much last fall as I had the previous year when he did successfully breed, as I was trying to let him lose a little weight
I will try the trick when the barometric pressure changes and see if that does anything.
