Since he is afraid of mice, try switching to small, f/t rats. They have a different scent.

Here is a size chart. Get a rat of equal size, f/t. Follow the instructions earlier in this post to heat him up. I would wait until next feed to try to feed him, but you can buy it and store it in the freezer.
