Housing Ball Python -
My BP refuses f/t and fresh kill. When I do try the fresh kill I put the mouse in a bag and give it a wack, no blood and guts, nice and clean, my question is , when he refuses it how long can I keep the fresh kill and if so can I refridgerate to try again later??
Thanks

Another thing is that you cant just put it in there sometimes a ball python needs some movement to trigger a feeding response. I would try some tongs or some hemastats and dangle the mouse around in front of you snake and he should go after it. If he dont go for it with in 5 minutes you could be safe in assuming that he wont. Then you put it in a ziploc bag and get as much air as you can out of the bag and put it in the freezer. I had to do this with a rat with Jojo, he refused his first meal ever and i just threw the rat away. The following week i tried again and no go well he shed the day after then i thawed the rat and he took it with no problems.
Thanks,
Damien

A cold mouse will only last a couple days, if even that, which I wouldn't even risk it. Frozen rodents generally maintain their nutrition in the freezer for about 3 months or so, then I think the vitamins start to break down or however that works.

I have posted on this a few times, and I think it might be a good trick...or maybe I am just lucky. I keep my mouse alive all day in the feed tank. Then I kill it right before I put jub jub in the feed tank and he always goes for it. I think the scent of food is a partial key which gets him ready.
Also, I have read to feed when they are hunting. Watch your snake for hunt like activity, i.e. putting head up for no reason and staying still while it is crawling around. Move then stop for no reason and waiting. That kind of stuff.
