Big weight Lost?

My Albino Male has been off feed since October and he has lost nearly 200 grams. Is this normal?

How old is he?

What does he weigh?

What are your current tanks conditions and under what circumstances are you attempting to feed?

Oh yea, I forgot. He was a previous breeder he is 2 and a half years old. Oct weigh in he was at 1300 grams and check him today to be sure he is at 1132. Eats f/t attempt to feed every week. All other snakes are finally getting back into feed slowly but surely

The answer is yes and know it really comes down to how you weight your snakes and it's activity.

For example if you always weigh your snake on empty than yes it's a significant weight loss

However if the first time the snake was weigh right after a meal and the next weigh in occurred after one or more bowel movements than no it is not.

Also is the animal a breeder or just a pet, breeders will lose weight as breeding activity can take it's toll especially if the animal is not eating.

The important is to make sure that the animal is well hydrated and when in doubt have a fecal done to eliminate any possibility of internal parasites.

Imo, I would switch to attempting to feed from every week to every 10 to 14 days. After you rule out any husbandry issues and parasitic possibility! Take it slow and try feeding really late at night and in the very dark. Consider switching the substrate to cypress mulch. Just a suggestion.... Good luck
