Depending on where you live, anyway. In Texas the state doesn't mandate permits or chips for any reptiles, though some counties or cities might.

The following species do not require a permit for personal possession as long as no other Rule or Statute applies. Examples include, but are not limited to, rules for Threatened or Endangered Species:
1. Reptiles, amphibians (nonvenomous native species that are not listed as endangered, threatened, species of special concern, or otherwise regulated; nonvenomous nonnative species not listed as Reptiles of Concern)
Florida reptiles of concern – permit required
Reptiles of Concern include any species of the class Reptilia, including subspecies, taxonomic successors or hybrids thereof, which, due to its nature, has habits or the potential to impact the environment.
As of January 1, 2008, the following six species are listed as Reptiles of Concern:
A. Reptiles of Concern – including subspecies and hybrids thereof

1. Non-venomous species
2. Burmese python (Python molurus)
3. African rock python (Python sebae)
4. Amethystine python (Morelia amethystinus)
5. Reticulated python (Python reticulatus)
6. Green anaconda (Eunectes murinus)
7. Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus)

Anyone possessing Reptiles of Concern must be licensed, pay a fee of $100 per year, and meet new caging requirements. It is unlawful to release Reptiles of Concern to the wild or allow their escape. Anyone exhibiting or selling Reptiles of Concern must provide an inventory biannually. Anyone possessing Reptiles of Concern for personal use must provide an inventory annually and upon change of inventory.

What I find funny is when I offer to help someone carry something and they just say, "Well can't a guy do it?" We only have 3 men vs like 5 women working at our small store...it's just how that happened lol. Anyway, the look I give them will either make them laugh at me or hand it over XD apparently being 5'1" and 120 makes me frail lol usually telling them I play with large snakes daily will convince them...idk why I mean the snake is what...5 lbs and your bag is 30!

OMG the UPS guy just delivered while I had by 4ft boy out and when I was signing I asked if he'd rather I sign or the snake and he shrugged and said didn't matter as long as he got a signature 😂😂😂

Lol! I had a pizza guy show up before I fed my savannh monitors once. My girlfriend opened the door as my big female went full tripod mode for a rat. His face was hilarious. Turns out he breeds sailfin and frilled dragons! We chat at our monthly expo now.

I once had a guy from a local church come knocking while I had Kirby out. He did his whole speech while trying very hard not to look at him halfway through my dog, who was in a cone at the time because of some fungus on his ears, slipped out and I had to chase him down with Kirby still in my hands and all the neighbor kids screaming and making all sorts of noise. I got the dog back inside and then the church man started over... I had a bit of a laugh after he had left.
