To be honest, if I lived in Florida and had a large snake, I would have them microchipped in case if that happened. Have your friend look into that.
We didn't know that was possible!

I opened the freezer and popped open a box of rats to see how big they were. An employee took this as a sign of me being confused, and after asking what kind of snake I had and how big it was she said, "With snakes like that you need to feed them a mouse that isn't any bigger than its head."

LUCKILY, her coworker corrected her... by saying, "No, I'm pretty sure the mouse can't be any bigger than the space between their eyes."

...I just thanked them, told them I know what I need to be feeding and went on my way.
Wow! Sounds like they need to find people with reptile knowledge like the two of us here!

Waste of money if you ask me.

My funny pet store story comes from the petco I tend to get my feeder mice from. The first time I came into this particular store I checked out their ball pythons, because that's kind of what I do. I peeked in one of the little half logs to see a nice, neatly coiled BP with a nice, neatly coiled baby cornsnake on top of it. I pointed it out to an associate as I was getting my mice and one of the workers got up on a little stool and dug around in the BP tank for about 5 minutes and pulled out maybe a dozen baby corns from around and under the balls and various decor. I guess the divider between the two setups isn't super snug because every time I go there are a few corns snuck in with the balls. Nothing super terrible, but still kind of amusing/concerning.

    Edit:

I resent this. I buy live feeders and I take good care of them up until the point my snake swallows them down. I'm not about to feed my prized ball pythons mangy beaten animals that will freak out and attack my snake; I'm going to feed them fat happy mice that have no idea what's about to grab them. If my snakes don't eat I have all the equipment needed to take care of my feeders until they do.
    They need a new divider

The only difference is that pet rodents cost 5-10 times as much as feeders, and not in how I treat them for the very short time between when I purchase them and when I feed them to my snakes.
That's weird because we charge the same rate whether it be a feeder or pet. Petco simply requests that we keep track of what goes out and for what purpose it was bought so we can keep track of how many we need and a whole bunch of other sales statistics I don't even take part in.

There was once a day where I was bagging fish and the gentleman says, "I apologize but that is just an awful bagging job." And then proceeded to teach me how to do it properly and I've been a pro ever since

I worked at a family owned pet store chain as a teenager. I loved the job for the most part. I took care of the birds, reptiles and spiders mainly as well as the "small animals" as they are called - rodents.

I once had a Chilean Rose Haired Tarantula out of it's tank for cleaning. I did not realize I was being watched by a customer at the moment.
So I coax the large spider onto my bare hand and bring it out. I'm kind of inspecting her and glad she didn't bite me (I had one of the very same spiders as a pet and this variety is very docile and not known as aggressive) when I hear a woman scream. I turn around and she's screaming at the top of her lungs from 10 feet away demanding I put it back. I kind of gave her a sideways look like "why?" and she ran straight out the front door, still screaming.

To this day it cracks me up.

Lol! My manager was retrieving Australian Whites for a customer and had them stick to her hand while she walked across the store to get boxes and two ladies saw them and did the exact same thing!

Oh no, not a spider... It's a pet store. I honesty don't get why people are so scared sometimes... it's like if I went to an outdoors store(cableas basspro, etc.) and started screaming and running away from an employee handling a firearm. It's to be expected at the store and 9.9999 times out of 10 you are in no danger at all.

The funny thing is my managers think I'm a freak because I handle our tarantulas and they always tell me if I lose it they won't help me chase it down lol
