    Cooling down a cage

Today in California its like 90 degrees and my ball pythons cage is like 100 degrees with all of the heating instruments turned off. Any ideas on how to cool it down. Is 100 degreese ok?

Freeze some water in a plastic bag, wrap it in a towel and put it in the cage as a temporary solution?

If there are any windows in the room that you're keeping your ball in, I've heard that you can cover them in aluminum or tin foil to block out the sunlight. 100 degrees isn't good, but I doubt it will hurt them as long is it doesn't last for an extended period of time.

"Redneck AC" works during power outages where you have a generator capable of running your refrigerator/freezer but not your HVAC. Put some one or two liter plastic bottles filled halfway with water into the freezer - if you lay them on their sides the ice won't burst them. Once frozen put the bottles next to your snake enclosures or racks, with a small fan (you can get battery-powered ones) blowing air across the cold bottle toward your snakes. That will help cool the air in the small area around your snakes.

Covering windows and skylights also helps, but do it from the outside so the sunlight can't penetrate the glass.
