Identification System?
Hey everyone,
I have a question regarding identifying systems fellow keepers may use with collection. For those of you who don't name all your snakes, do you use numbers? (Example 001, 002, 003, etc.). While a select few of my names have unofficial names, I don't want to use names as a main means of identification.
An example of system I've been tinkering with is using my initials-number-F/M (male or female).
Example: IQ-00-F (female)
I know it may seem tedious now, but I feel this would be beneficial in a few years, when breeding and many different BP will be in racks.
It would be interesting to see what others have to say.

I currently use either:
Hatch year and clutch # - m or f - Morph name - # (in case I have multiples)
So as an example here is the ID for my Pastel Clown
1474-m-Pastel Clown-01
If the breeder didn't assign clutch #'s I then use month and day of hatching.
0714-f-Orangebelly Mojave-01
Once I start some of my breeding projects next year I'll assign clutch #'s to mine so eventually I'll have most of my family on the first type of ID.
I'm also using Reptile Scan to track feedings, shedding, cleaning etc.

For anything that is part of my collection it goes as followed
Mutation, Year, Number so if I have two 2012 females Mystic it goes like this, Mys_2012F1, Mys_2012F2
For hatchlings that stay here temporarily it goes like this
Year, Clutch, Number, Mutation, Sex, Number - So lets say I have a 2015 clutch of pied and it's the second one of the year and there are 2 females, 3 males it would go like this 2015Cl02_Pie_F1, 2015Cl02_Pie_F2, 2015Cl02_Pie_M1, 2015Cl02_Pie_M2, 2015Cl02_Pie_M3
Any other specific info such as precise hatch date is found on the QR code used by Reptile Scan

This looks interesting, but has a fee.
