Water bowl position

Hello
I was wondering.. Do you guys place your water bowl under the light/heat bulb or away from it ?

I had it away from it till now
But I changed it to see if my humidity would raise a bit (it's mostly around 45-50%)

Just want to know how most of you do..

Heating the water will help with humidity.
Way back when I was stuck on tanks, I would make sure part of the bowl was on the UTH.

Might work, but the bowl is so thick that if i put it on the UTH, the UTH would become useless..

Dont over think it.
You only put part of the bowl on an edge of it. Over time it will warm the bowl and water.
No its not going to boil it.

Let me say first that I'm not 100% sure I'm right on my opinion. Water more easily evaporates in warm air. If we are talking about a rack or cage using UTH's then usually the floor is hotter on the one side and cooler on the other (90 vs 80 respectively) BUT the ambient air temps should be about the same throughout the cage...80-85ish. So the water in the bowl will evaporate and raise humidity on either side. I do not think that the 10 degree difference in floor temp will work its way up through a bowl and make any noticeable difference in humidity by warming the water. Now if your putting a heat lamp over the water dish this may directly heat the water better and make a difference, not sure how much though. So to wrap it all up I feel better having my water on the cool side of the cage because I want more room for the snake on the warm side. I think you would make a bigger humidity increase by putting in a bigger bowl than you would putting it on the warm side. just my 2 cents.

I put it in the middle of the enclosure. It has nothing to do with humidity for me, I just like the hot side and the cool side to have room for the snake to lay.

I think I'm gonna leave the water bowl under the lamp
My humidity rose till 52%
Still a little higher than before

Yes water bowl placement will change the humidity in the air. Air movement over the bowl will also change it where the vents are also has an effect. BrianDallek yes warmer water evaporates faster than cool, and warmer air holds more water than cool air.

Sadly relative humidity is a poor measure as it varies. It is relative to temperature and it is expressed as a % of how what the maximum amount of water vapour the air can support. So as the ambient air temperature goes up it takes more water to reach the dew point (saturation) so 50% RH at one temperature is more or less than at another temperature. It is often said a heat lamp (or any other source that heats the air) removes moisture, when it actually it likely has little effect the drop in % represents an increase in the possible maximum.
