Excavator clay for a ball python?
Would excavator clay be a good substrate for a ball python? I probably wouldn't keep humidity very well, but maybe if you put a thin layer of bark chips and moss over top?

I was toying with the idea of using this for my beardie, however this stuff is kind of weird. When you get it wet it collapses and is able to be molded however as it dries it acts almost like cement, my fear was that one it doesn't seem to hold humidity well, and two if the snake in this case were to soak in the water bowl and get it wet enough to break down then crawl past it you have the posiblity of it sticking to the animal and possibly drying on them. To me it wasn't worth it.

Oh that makes sense. Maybe not a good idea for a ball then. I hate really messy substrates!
