Re: Accidental Pastel??
I wonder if she's het for anything. If not no disappointment. I'd rather mess up on a "normal" project

Re: Accidental Pastel??
Though is it common to have the light/green eyes? I have a classic normal so I'm used to those eyes

It is common for a lighter snake to have lighter eyes.
I took these pictures because people often question their snakes as pastels.

Normal left, pastel right. Obviously the normal is darker than yours and pastels have variation but THAT is a yellow snake (who was about to shed). Even the browned out ones are usually closer to *yellow* than your guy, especially when they're younger.

Yeah that's the thing. She looks yellower irl and I can't capture on camera. I'll have to use my friends
She probably is normal but I've seen lots of balls mainly normals. She is just a superstar in looks compared to my other norms

It's a nice looking wild type IMO. Another thing I have to ask, I am sure you picked up that snake because you liked it, but if you wanted a pastel why didn't you or why don't you also get a pastel?

Even without the yellow shes really REALLY not a pastel, sorry. Pastels have a completely different look to them even when they are really browned out. You have a nice normal there.

It really is a nice, light normal with flames. I know if you are used to the "classic" normal look, it's easy to think you have a morph. We pretty much all do it at least once. Once you start really studying the morphs, you'll learn to pick out the differences.
While it is true many pastels have green eyes, and a lot of people use that as a reference, normals can have green eyes too. The main defining characteristic of a pastel is the "brown out line". All pastels, no matter how brown they turn as they grow, have it. This line runs about midway down the side of a pastel, and marks a change between the yellow/brown coloring of the back and the yellow/white coloring of the sides and belly. Even bright yellow pastels have the line, although it can be harder to see. If you study pictures of pastels soon you'll be able to pick it out. It really looks like someone drew a line down the snake.
Your baby, while it is light and quite lovely, has no hint of a brown out line, and cannot be a pastel. Not even a poor quality browned out pastel. But that's okay, some of my finest breeders are "normals". Of course, they don't look much like what people think of when you say normal. So enjoy your lovely baby, she's quite a little beauty, even if she is "just a normal".

Thanks for the clarification. I now see what you mean. I still think she might be a good breeding choice
