Help! Is this uth on here right?

I got a new uth and followed the tutorial for the 20 gallon tank. No matter what I do I cant get rid of air the pocket around probe. I guess this is probably normal just want to make sure.

Great. Thanks guys. The first time I stuck the pad to cage before I knew about thermastats so I had to pull it back and stick it in and I'm pretty sure it damaged the heating elements so I replaced it to be safe. I wasn't expecting such a big air pocket so I just wanted to check.

Yeh thats gonna happen. Just know that you need to play around with the thermostat settings (using a temp gun). Because the temps on the air pocket and the temp on the part of the UTH which is completely flush is going to be slighty different.

I noticed. This morning digital said 89 but with the gun the hottest part said 96. I turned the thermastat from 93 to 90 hopefully that helps. I guess it dosent have to be 90-92 all over pad just on the hottest spot? I don't think 96 will burn but is definitely too hot.

You are correct, coley. While 96 won't necessarily cause burns, exposure to high temperatures can lead to neurological issues. It's a good idea to max out at 94 or lower (preferably 90ish for best results).
