Odd gravid feeder question...

My female bumblebee is gravid and only eats live....no F/T or fresh killed, live only. This is my first ball python breeding, i hve done bearded dragons and corn snakes.

My girlfriend and i were wondering if we should give Bobble Head's rats some calcium and vitamin supplements on their rat pellets. We buy 3 or 4 at a show and feed them so we don't have to pay $6 a piece at the pet store

Not sure if this is a weird question but i can't see it doing anything but good, kind of good pre natal care right?

Hi,

In theory it should be unnecessary and I would only do it for the occasional meal rather than all of them.

But the main thing is BP's can only be called gravid after ovulation and most females won't eat at that point. Or if they do it tends to be smaller meals than normal.

I see. I kinda thought so but figured it was worth thinking about. She is most definitely gravid. I caught her ovulating and threw in my lemonblast. They were locked up for the better part of 2 days. She is noticeably heavier now and acting a little different than normal, nothing concerning. She hasnt shed yet and has taken one meal immediately after being separated from the male. I am going to offer her a meal today and see what she does. I am prepared for her not eating after her next shed.

It could have been a big build?

One of my females has a habit of huuuge builds that fool me every year.

I say this because after ovulation ( the point of fertilisation ) locks are wasted.

Is she spending most of her time on the cool side or the hot spot?

Good luck with her either way as it does sound good.

She is spending most of her time on the cooler side.

She did decide to eat.
