Re: What is your favorite BCC?

There is no larger BCC boa on average than the Iquitos Peruvian boa. They are the biggest boas on average and do not suffer the regurgitation syndrome that many of the other true red tails do.

Golden yellows and inky blacks that scream "jungle snake" are common amongst Peruvian boas.

Gus Rentfro produced some of the most beautiful Peruvian boas in captivity and Legacy Reptiles has that stock now.

All BCC's are special, but to me the boa constrictors of Peru are the kings.

When you are looking for size and hardiness, these boas fit the bill.

There are Red Tail Boa's of the country of Colombia. So they're name would be Colombian Red Tail Boa. A common misconception as there is a U.S. city named Columbia.

Re: What is your favorite BCC?

I own quite a few Guyana Boa C. Constrictors and they always impress me with their sheer shadows and contrast. If you love a dark boa constrictor with that deep red tail, Guyana might be your best option. But I love Surinam very much and they tend to be a lot lighter. True Surinam, not the ones people are incorrectly labeling and are actually Guyana.

Mike E. has the best BCC's I've ever seen in the states (disregarding a few private breeders, Mike E. is much larger and that's why I mention him first). The quality will literally make your jaw fall. All my Guyana have been from him and I am very, very happy with them. His Surinam are amazing, too. Here is a website he houses his pictures on:

*Very nice man and a great BCC breeder; I hope you find the perfect Boa C. Constrictor

I have had several Surinames and for my money they are the best looking snake on the planet. Rio bravo reptiles had some of the best imo

Suriname boas are my favorites. I've seen some with some really beautiful bright red tails. I love Peruvians too. BCC is my favorite species of boas.

I see by the poll that Surinames are the overall fav. What is it thst makes it so?

Is it the colors? Disposition? Ease of care? ????
