Did you unplug the UTH until the thermostat comes in?

Re: temps? please help
i took the rheostat back since even on low setting it was to hot. i got a lamp dimmer from walmart which is actually working. keeping hit side between 88 and 91.8. which the breeder i got him from suggested it till the thermostat comes wednesday... then i took heat lamp that i had away and gota new that looks like a ceramic top and it is keeping cool side at 77.6 and 82.3. and humidity is staying between 56 and 64.

Temps sound good! Actually, I know many people who use dimmers instead of thermostats, and they work for them. HOWEVER, thermostat is much more reliable! I have used both (dimmer temporarily as well); and found it too much of a hassle to keep track of. As already mentioned, with fluctuating air temps you'll get fluctuating dimmer temps. Works well for heat lamps but not as much for UTHes I find.
As soon as your thermostat comes in you can keep your dimmer as a backup unless you wanna do the dishonest-but-let's-face-it-sometimes-we-do-it returnamajig.
Either way. That's a moral dilemma. Anyhow. BEAUTIFUL snake. Congrats!!
All the best.

yes that was my plan. as soon as the thermostat comes wednesday. im switching them and just keeping dimmer for a backup in case something goes wrong with thermostat.
