    Off topic.....garter snake?

My husband has a colleague that asked if we would take their albino garter snake that her kids no longer pay attention to......he just told me they feed it fish and crickets......now....nowhere have I found anything about them eating crickets...so probably not the healthiest snake to begin with.......found somewhere else about possibly needing them to hibernate.....is it bad that I may not be intersted in taking this snake? Anyone have any and are they pretty easy to care for? Thanks for any responses!

I moved this thread to "General Herp" where it might get more attention. I've never kept garters myself, but they seem like really cool pets...different from ball pythons, but not that difficult for anyone willing to do a little research. Check out www.thamnophis.com ...a forum dedicated entirely to garter snakes with friendly, helpful folks.
