Question about this certain hatchlings yolk sac.

We had a clutch of 7 babies in which 5 came out too early. We incubate at 89 degrees and havnt had this happen with any other clutches so far.

They came out with some yolk still attached. Most of them absorbed most of the sac after we put then in a damp bin and had the remainder fall off. This is the first one out and the sac is about the same size the others are dropping off ( about the size of a Lima bean. ) but the cord holding it seems thicker and is changing color a little. The sac doesn't seem to be getting any smaller and it's been about 2 day since it came out.

Do you think this will fall off on its own or do I need to intervene. Also does it look like it absorbed enough to not be fed right away

    Thanks

The hatchling absorbed most of it and looks to be in good weight and development, so I would go ahead and tie it off.

Actually I would let it fall of on it's on, there is no reason to cut it off.

Separate the hatchling from the others. place him in a deli cup with DAMP paper towel and it will fall off.

I was originally going to let it fall but the redness was starting to concern me

You can't cut it off where the redness is anyway in that kind of procedure you need to tie it of at least 1/2 in away from the belly than cut.

I'll keep watching it then. The other babies had something almost as small as floss holding the sac and they fell off alright. The cord on this one is considerably bigger I just don't want it to do to anything while it's still stuck if it takes a whole to fall off
