I dont know if you've noticed the theme here, so ill point it out. Nearly everyone in this thread is showing off possible hets they produced themselves, kept, then proved out down the line. That is a totally different story from buying a possible het. You've got to really trust your seller, and hope that no one else has gone thru and picked out the ones with the most potential. Thats a Pretty big gamble in my book

my het albino was bought from Mike Viola as a 100% het. I just proved it out for myself this season

That's a bit different, if you buy a 100% het you will get visuals sooner or later well so long you buy from someone reputable.
When I buy hets I never wonder nor feel like I am proving anything out.
Possible hets are a gambling you buy 66% or 50% hets or holdback from your clutched and hope that you will prove them out. (They may or may not)
All animals posted here were possible hets not hets

Unfortunately the odds can work against you in some cases. I had a pair of kingsnakes that I produced myself, that were het for Axanthic. My first clutch of 14 eggs produced 1.0 Axanthic. The second clutch of 15, 0.0 Axanthics. The final clutch of 14 produced 0.1 Axanthics. Talk about bad luck. Two Axanthics out of 43 eggs, when statistically I should have produced at least 10. Sometimes the odds take more time than we expect....and it sucks! Congrats on the Pieds! Still my favorite base more to this day.

I've always had a very limited snake budget so have chosen to spend it on possible het males and hardly ever buy females of any kind due to the usual female price premium.
I've proven several purchased possible het males. Two for albinos and at least one for pied and one for caramel.
Have eggs incubating now that might prove a possible het stripe male (actually a possible double het albino stripe male that already proved het albino). Also in the incubator a chance to prove another possible het pied male (known het albino). I've also proven a possible het hypo male but he was a gift so not a purchase. Hope to put a purchased possible het clown male to the test eventually but like a lot of my projects that will require growing his daughters up so will take a while.
Anyway, I'm not afraid to buy possible hets from other breeders. All the more so now that there is almost no economic benefit to labeling an animal a possible het. In fact, I've always suspected that a large percentage of breeders despise possible hets and think my ads would be better received if I didn't mention what my animals are possible het for. Seems some automatically assume scam as soon as they read "possible het". But it would be a shame of they didn't get paired with the right gene to make the best possible babies so I'll keep mentioning what they are possible het for.
